Mariko Adachi|Sales & Applications Engineer
ーー What is your current job description?
Adachi : I am responsible for giving measurement demonstrations and product introductions to customers, conveying the advantages of our equipment and surveying customer needs. I also develop applications for market expansion and perform general sales duties.
ーー What is the best part of working at Nanophoton?
Adachi : At Nanophoton, everything from development and design to manufacturing and sales is done in-house, with frequent information sharing between departments. Therefore, the most attractive point is that even a small opinion of one employee is immediately reflected in our products if it is beneficial to our customers. Also, since Raman microscopes are analytical instruments that can be used widely, the opportunity to have contact with people in various fields and positions is also a big attraction. I enjoy talking with people who develop familiar products such as pharmaceuticals and foods, people who support their quality, university professors and researchers in various fields, and students from all over Japan.
ーー Can you give us an example of what you have accomplished through teamwork?
Adachi : This was the commercialization and sales of RAMANdrive. It was the first job I was involved in after joining the company. We listened to the issues our customers were facing and proposed new solutions by taking advantage of our technical capabilities. By having engineers from all departments including development, manufacturing, sales, marketing, intellectual property, and general affairs work together to commercialize the product, we were able to deliver the product as requested by the customer. I don’t think we could have achieved this without any of them.
ーー What have you been able to grow through your work at Nanophoton?
Adachi : I have developed considerably my ability to think about how to communicate clearly to others, how to interest them, and what kind of presentations, reports, and conversations I should have in order to do so. However, I am still a work in progress (laughs). Also, I think I have gained a little bit of courage!

Yusuke Shiozaki|Product Development, Manufacturing & Service Engineer
ーー What is your current job description?
Shiozaki : I am mainly in charge of product development and developing new features for our products. I am also in charge of equipment installation and maintenance work so that user requirements can be incorporated.
ーー When do you find it rewarding to work at Nanophoton?
Shiozaki : It is when a new function that I have developed enables a measurement that was not possible before, or when a difficult analysis becomes easy to perform. In the development process, there are tedious tasks and rework, but I am glad that I did my best when what I had envisioned comes to fruition.
ーー What have you been able to grow through your work at Nanophoton?
Shiozaki : If there is an issue or problem, I think I have learned to take action to solve it on my own. I have also acquired an attitude of persistently thinking and seeking solutions without giving up, even when I thought the solution was not possible.
